Join our Monumental Improvement team (MI) for 3 days worth of exciting activities at Kynance Gate this September. We’ll have volunteer conservation repairs taking place at the Scheduled Monument of Kynance Gate, Installing new interpretation, a guided tour around the settlement site and joining a Discovery Day at Helston Museum.
When is this event?
Wednesday 11th September: 9:30am – 4pm
Volunteer Conservation Repairs to take place at Kynance Gate also including an Ecological Toolbox Talk session. These works will involve a certain amount of physical fitness and the ability to walk across rough and uneven ground for over a mile.
Thursday 12th September: 9:30am – 4pm
Volunteer Conservation Repairs to take place Kynance Gate also including a Hand Toolbox Talk session. These works will involve a certain amount of physical fitness and the ability to walk across rough and uneven ground for over a mile.
Friday 13th September: 1:00pm – 4pm (Cancelled)
Guided Walk to the archaeological settlement of Kynance Gate near Kynance Cove. – Unfortunately we have had to cancel the walk due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologise for any inconvenience.

What to bring for this event?
Volunteer Conservation participants – Please wear appropriate attire (for example gardening clothes) and any personal protection such as gloves, hats, and boots. Please also bring plenty of water and refreshments for the duration of the event as well as any medication you take.
Guided Walk participants – Please wear appropriate footwear such as walking boots as well as clothing according to the weather. Please also bring plenty of water and refreshments for the duration of the event as well as any medication you take.

Kynance Gate settlement is roughly a mile walk from the National Trust Car Park, this walk will involve fairly steep decline and incline over rough and uneven ground to reach the site. Toilet facilities are available at the Car Park but not at the site. Normal parking charges apply. The Monumental Improvement project is funded thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
