This will involve a morning of lichen ID training from a lichenologist from Plantlife, exploring the site and learning about interesting species that are characteristic of Golitha Falls. 🌳

Each participant will be given Plantlife’s newest Southwest Rainforest ID guides to take home with you. This will be followed by an afternoon of practical work, either carrying out ivy severing to improve the habitat for our lichen species or deadhedging to protect ground flora from trampling. 🪵

Teas, coffees and snacks will be provided but please bring your own lunch, or otherwise there will be time for you to visit Inkies. Please bring suitable gloves, clothing and footwear for walking/ carrying out practical work for the weather conditions. 🥾

The lichen ID training will be outside and we will be moving slowly around the site, so please bring appropriately warm clothing. If you have a pair of secateurs you wouldn’t mind bringing for ivy severing, please bring it along. Get a taster of what volunteering at your local nature reserve is about, and if you enjoy it you can always sign up as a Natural England volunteer.

Please keep an eye out for updates of changes or cancellation.
