Practical Project Delivery

This page is under construction

This aims to enhance habitat restoration through targeted grazing, and we are looking to run a trial of virtual fencing collars to assess their effectiveness in livestock management and managed grazing. The collars allow precise control of grazing areas without the need for physical fences, enabling better management of sensitive habitats. Farmers are using these widely on Dartmoor and report benefits including time saved in locating livestock and easier rounding up.

We are seeking volunteers to participate in this trial, with 60 no-fence collars available at 20% of their standard cost. Participating graziers will work with the project team to identify suitable trial sites based on the ecological surveying and archaeological review. Participants will be asked to feed back on the system’s impact on grazing patterns and habitat condition.

If you would like to be considered to be a part of the virtual fencing trail, please contact Lisa.Rundle@cornwall.gov.uk

In addition, come springtime there is funding for some site-specific clearance on heritage-focused conservation works, including vegetation clearance around key archaeological sites. This work will focus on sites identified in the archaeological works and will only be carried out if there is the consent of the relevant Landowners.
