The PAL Review is soon to be underway, working with Heritage and Landscape Colleagues the project team are pleased to have recently appointed Pete Herring, David Attwell, and Dan Ratcliffe to lead this critical element. Their in-depth knowledge of the Moor, along with their professional ties to the Dartmoor Hill Farm Project and prior engagement with heritage projects on the Moor, make them ideal for this task.

They have been appointed to report on any outcomes since the PALS were first established and highlight the significance of the PALs, liaison with land managers and to make suggestions on possible future management of Archaeological Sites, relying on their existing knowledge of the moor and the PALs to provide resources to support landowners and managers with future grant applications.   They have previously produced detailed work leading to quality outcomes for other projects and have excellent experience of farming and heritage management on the moor.

Reassessing the 22 current PAL areas to determine whether their boundaries and management priorities need updating.

Stakeholder consultation will form a key part of this process, ensuring that opinions from all relevant parties are included, especially regarding grazing practices and heritage conservation.

A clear vision for each PAL will be produced, with recommendations for Environmental Land Management Schemes (ELMs) and other grant support.
