A Monumental Celebration @ Bottreaux Castle

May 29 @ 10:00 - 15:00

Join our Monumental Improvement team for our final project celebration event at Bottreuax Castle on Thursday the 29th of May from 10:00 – 15:00

Drop in for cake and coffee and immerse yourself in a stunning exhibition at the Boscastle Community and Recreation Centre. Discover James Innerdale’s beautiful watercolour illustrations of the sites, explore blown-up 360° panoramic images and marvel at digital reconstruction stills that bring these ancient places to life. We’ll also be running drop-in Family drawing sessions with local artist Sam Halstead from the top of Bottreaux Castle with picturesque views over the River Jordan.

Just over the road at the Medieval Motte and Bailey Bottreaux Castle you can also meet Drolla – The Story Telling Bench. Commissioned and co-designed by the Cornwall National Landscape team and crafted by renowned Cornish metal sculptors Thrussells, Drolla, which takes its name from the Cornish word for “folk tale” seamlessly blends intricate artistry with functional design.

Create your own story drawing inspiration from the plethora of symbols of Cornwall’s rich cultural tapestry: from mythical creatures and ancient legends to indigenous flora and fauna. Each flourish and curve is a gentle prompt to look a little deeper, listen a little more closely and appreciate the stories that live in the land.
